專科生和本科生用英語該怎么表達？

首先，我們從教育制度來看：�？仆ǔ�3年制的教育，也有一些是2年；而本科通常是4年制的教育，一些專業(yè)可能是5年，例如醫(yī)學院等。常見英文譯法為：�？粕� junior college student，本科生 undergraduate student。

可又有一些人說了，junior college student容易讓人誤以為是本科大三的學生

Junior N-COUNT In the United States, a student in the third year of high school or college is called a junior. (美國中學、大學) 三年級學生

例：Their youngest daughter Amy's a junior at the University of Evansville in Indiana.

他們最小的女兒埃米是印第安納州埃文斯維爾大學的三年級學生。

Undergraduate N-COUNT An undergraduate is a student at a university or college who is studying for a bachelor's or associate's degree. 大學本科生

例：Economics undergraduates are probably the brightest in the university.

經(jīng)濟學本科生很可能是該大學里最聰明的學生。

其次，從學位的獲取來看：大學本科如能順利畢業(yè)，可獲取學士學位；而大學專科是不提供學位的。在中國最低的學位是學士學位，學士學位只授予順利畢業(yè)的本科生。

在研討“本科生”與“�？粕庇⒆g方法的時候，筆者認為要注意漢英翻譯的邏輯思維與表達方法。要說明一個問題，不同的民族有著共同的思維，但用不同的語言來表達。我們進行翻譯工作，就要考慮選用的意如欲是否符合邏輯，是否合乎情理，也就是要考慮譯文所表達的是否原文表達的內(nèi)容。這就有賴于選用恰當?shù)摹樽g入語民族所慣用的或易為理解與接受的詞匯了。因此筆者認為把專科生翻譯成associate-degree student\本科生翻譯成undergraduate的譯法更加符合英語民族的習慣表達。
